UNI's Farokhmanesh Ties For Sixth
University of Northern Iowa senior guard Ali Farokhmanesh competed in ESPN's State Farm 3-Point Championship on Thursday in Indianapolis.  Farokhmanesh tallied 16 points in the first round, but failed to advance to the semifinals. He finished tied for sixth in the field. 

On the season, Farokhmanesh led the Panthers with 77 made 3-pointers in leading UNI to a 30-5 overall record and Sweet 16 appearance in the NCAA Tournament.  Farokhmanesh made national headlines by draining a 3-pointer with 4.9 seconds left to lift UNI to a 69-66 first-round win over UNLV. 

He further cemented his status on the national scene when he buried a 3-pointer with 34 seconds left in the Panthers' 69-67 victory over No. 1-ranked Kansas in the second round.   In three NCAA Tournament games this season, Farokhmanesh scored a team-high 42 points (14.0 points/game) and drained 10-of-25 3-pointers.
